Syrup has been with us for almost 2 years -- he was born sometime in January 2013 and we got him in March. Syrup was a snugly squish boy and he was much freer with hand kisses than his brother Echo. The two boys regularly drew people to them on the site, we received more inquiries about them than any other rats we have had, it's just too bad both of them had such poor health. I could never adopt them out to anyone not willing to give them frequent care, it just wouldn't be fair to them or the adopters. Syrup being such a fat & lazy boy, it was not easy to tell he was a bit lethargic these last couple days until it became more apparent last night. We started him on meds (yet again) and made sure he was comfortable. This morning he was a limp rag doll and horribly congested. As soon as I got up I gave him a couple inject-able meds and started up the oxygen machine for him. Sadly, it was finally time and he left us a few hours later. He is now frolicking again with his brother Echo, I'm sure!
