Surrender

Making the choice to surrender your pet rat can be a very difficult one. New Ken Rat Rescue is available to assist you in this decision.

Sometimes problems you are having with your rat can be solved through education, thus leaving your rat with the family he loves.

We also understand that staying with you is not always possible. Surrendering your rat will always be handled in a judgment-free manner.

How to Surrender

The first step is to contact New Ken Rat Rescue.

Due to cage space requirements and the fact that our rescue is also our home, we are not always going to have room in every situation. However, contact us anyways and we can evaluate this.

Housing and supplies surrendered with your rat can be useful in finding them a new home. This can also help alleviate the stress of a move since there are still some familiar elements for your rat.
As this is a single-family residence, we have limited amounts of space for cages. We refuse to "store" rats places where we don't spend much time, such as our basement as this does not lead to socialized rats. So, unfortunately, we must place a cap on the amount of rats we can house. Thank you for your understanding.
